Fashion Blouses… we’re into the Oxford Collar!

white shirt

This has been the season of the fashion  blouse, the trend, the Oxford Collar shirt  … yes! the mens oxford collar shirt with buttons all the way down the front and  cuffs on the sleeves is our go-to versatile blouse this year.  It’s no longer considered a preppy staple for the polo playing gentlemen or boarding school kids… it’s now a feminine blouse.

I know… Men wear them with suits , it’s their career wardrobe staple. Most are made of a cotton or a cotton blend, but they are getting rather glamorous and very classy chic for us.  Trendy and feminine  this blouse is it.  We  are wearing them under jackets and sweaters, with skirts, pants and shorts.  Tucked in or hanging out with a belt at the waist, we’re going to be seeing a lot of them….  it’s the trend, so add an oxford collar shirt to  your closet now.

The local boutique  have  quite an assortment of them. Most common being our classic white oxford collar , but collar styles from spread collars to narrow ones are there. Some have unbelievable collars  prints,  lace overlays, sequins and full out woven tribal stripes.  I found one in denim with a suede collar. All sorts of  cuffs too  … the ones  that fold over or stay flat and my favorite – the french cuff to wear cuff links with ( I love the look).  Even have a pair of antique blue topaz cuff links to wear with my new white blouse …so classy and EASY! It’s this years fashion blouse.

This can be a really sexy blouse when left unbuttoned down to almost there with a pair of jeans.

TIP :   If you are considering one with an unusual collar or cuff or print watch the cleaning instructions.  It can get pretty costly having the full shirt dry cleaned every time you wear it.   So look for one with a  detachable collar  and your good to go.
